Living in the fullness of the Spirit cannot be accomplished overnight. Also, it requires a constant refilling. God created it this way, so we would constantly come to Him.
Faith is not religion and religion is not faith. We market what we are doing for the Lord! We pay special attention to well-known figures and follow those who have a reputation. A lot of Chinese and Westerners listen to them because they believe if they follow their tips and spiritual guidelines, they will be healthy, wealthy and happy — like him! If I just pray his prayer I Chronicles , I will receive the same results. Not necessarily so.
That was an intimate prayer between Jabez and God. Purpose Driven Life — Church — now Mission. They want that kind of spiritual success, power, influence, control, resources. We were made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven.
THE FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT | Bringing Christ Back Ministries
One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me. I may live 60 to years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity. We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.
Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one. The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort. God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness. This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer. I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth.
I don't believe that anymore.

Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always. You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems. If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness,.
We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her. It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her. You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life. Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder.
For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million.
It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease. So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases.
Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church. Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation. Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back.
It was liberating to be able to serve God for free. Bible Text: John Series: John It was once thought impossible that anyone could run a 4-minute mile. Yet that goal, like so many more, has been reached and bettered. So it is with achievements in science and in many other areas of life. Our text today is John Read it carefully, prayerfully.
Here we are taught that believers in Jesus Christ are to do great, record breaking things - things even beyond human strength.
What is Being Filled with the Holy Spirit?
Notice that Jesus says in verse 12 that all of this achievement is "because I am going to the Father. Now, read on. It still further means that we can count on the counsel and support the meaning of the term translated "Comforter" of the Holy Spirit to enable us to run magnificently for God.
One achievement which men have never accomplished is to change their own character. Wars, hatred and sins continue among the educated and uneducated, the rich and poor, strong and weak. But what no man can do, God freely does through the Holy Spirit given to us. Turn to John Note very carefully the order of events in verse Can you name each in its place? How wonderful is the full work of the Holy Spirit--God Himself--in our lives! This is our subject right now.
In John and 33 we see the two-fold work of Christ. As sacrificial lamb, He removes our sin.
The Filling of the Holy Spirit
As the "Baptizer," He immerses us in the Holy Spirit. Sin is not only cared for, but we are blessed with the very presence of God in our lives. Hear what the Apostle Peter says to the thousands who hear his message on Pentecost: "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.
How to Receive the Fullness of the Holy Spirit
Peter is here promising all the ministry of Christ to all who believe: Strikingly, this parallels John , Now, notice that the Pentecostal gift of the Spirit is promised at the outset. The baptism of the Spirit is initial and universal , as one teacher puts it. It is at the first and it is for all.
