Joseph then uses a Stand of his own, resembling purple brambles, to smash an expensive instant camera, from which a photograph appears. After explaining how people from the Joestar bloodline have star-shaped birthmarks on the back of their necks, Joseph reveals the photograph to be a picture of DIO possessing the same birthmark, proving that he had stolen the body of his grandfather, Jonathan Joestar.
He goes on to state that DIO's revival has caused the emergence of Stands in both himself and Jotaro. Elsewhere, DIO senses the presence of the Joestars and resolves to kill them. As Jotaro walks to school with some of his female admirers, a deep cut suddenly appears on Jotaro's leg, causing him to fall down a flight of stairs.
He only manages to save himself by using his Stand to divert his fall. Jotaro receives a handkerchief from a new transfer student named Noriaki Kakyoin , unaware that he is the one responsible for his fall. Later, as Jotaro heads to the infirmary to have his wound treated, the nurse starts acting strangely, stabbing one of the other students with a pen before going after Jotaro with inhuman strength.
Kakyoin appears and reveals he has used his personal Stand, Heirophant Green, to possess the nurse's body.
Jotaro uses his Stand to pull Hierophant Green out of the nurse's body, only to be attacked by its Emerald Splash attack, leaving the nurse with harsh internal injuries. Despite appearing to be fatally injured by Heirophant Green's attack, Jotaro counter attacks using his Stand to pummel Heirophant Green until Kakyoin falls unconscious.
The 100 Pages That Shaped Comics
After leaving the injured nurse to the school faculty, Jotaro takes Kakyoin back home to Joseph and Avdol. Joseph explains that Kakyoin is DIO's pawn and will likely die in a few days, caused by something implanted in Kakyoin's forehead. Joseph reveals that the object on Kakyoin's forehead is a "flesh bud" that has a tendril going straight into his brain, making him swear loyalty to DIO. Avdol also reveals that recently DIO approached him the same way by using his charisma, but he managed to escape.
The next day, Avdol finds Holly collapsed in the kitchen with a Stand resembling rose vines. They deduce that he is in the Aswan region of Egypt from the faint image of a particular fly. Kakyoin confirms their theory, and decides to join the group because of a fondness he feels for women like Holly. As the group takes off on a flight towards Egypt, DIO, using a Stand power similar to Joseph's Hermit Purple, takes a photograph showing him their location. As their plane passes over Taiwan , Jotaro and the others are awoken by the sound of a flying stag beetle.
Avdol identifies it as an evil Stand known as Tower of Gray, which is responsible for causing mass murders that look like tragic accidents. Jotaro finds its speed outmatchs even Star Platinum's and it suddenly kills a row of passengers, using their bloody tongues to spell out the word "Massacre! Before an elderly passenger raises the alarm, Kakyoin knocks him out. Kakyoin convinces the others that his Heirophant Green is the safest Stand to use. His Stand's Emerald Splash attack seems to have no effect against Tower of Gray's speed, however, it is a ploy by Kakyoin, who uses Heirophant Green to impale it using spikes from under the seating.
The group realizes that they must find an alternate way of reaching Egypt that does not put innocent lives at risk and decide to travel by sea. As the group eats in a restaurant they are joined by a French tourist who soon reveals himself to be the owner of the sword-wielding Stand Silver Chariot and one of DIO's assassins. After attack and counter-attack both Polnareff and Silver Chariot are engulfed in flames. Before the group can celebrate victory, Polnareff has Silver Chariot shed its protective armor, allowing it to move even faster and produce shadow images and attack from multiple angles.
Avdol overcomes the clones using his Cross Fire Hurricane Special with multiple flames to distract the decoys, before attacking Polnareff directly from underground with a larger flame. With Polnareff defeated and burning alive, he refuses the opportunity to end his own life, admitting his defeat and resigning himself to be killed by the flames.
Realizing the man's chivalry, Avdol releases him from the flames, and discovers that Polnareff is under the control of a DIO flesh bud, which Jotaro soon extracts. As the group heads for their boat the Speedwagon Foundation has hired for them, Polnareff appears and reveals that his true goal is to find and kill a Stand user with two right hands, who was responsible for the rape and murder of his younger sister, Cherie. He was swayed by DIO when he promised to help him find the culprit.
Learning that the culprit is likely someone in DIO's employ, Polnareff decides to join the Joestar group on their journey to Egypt. The Joestar group begin their three day journey towards Singapore , but discover a young stowaway on board. The stowaway jumps overboard and is threatened by a shark but is rescued by Jotaro who discovers that the child is a girl named Anne who claims that she is searching for her father.
They find themselves approached by a seafaring Stand and suspect the girl, but Jotaro exposes the ship's captain as an impostor. The fake Captain Tennille [e] has his Stand Dark Blue Moon take Anne hostage, challenging Jotaro to fight against him in the ocean, where he would have the advantage. Star Platinum manages to beat Dark Blue Moon before its reaches the ocean, knocking its owner into the sea. However, acorn barnacles appear on Star Platinum and spread over him, draining its strength and causing Jotaro to fall into the ocean, where Dark Blue Moon creates a deadly whirlpool.
Jotaro keeps himself and Star Platinum limp, allowing it to concentrate its strength and counterattack with its Star Finger technique, defeating Dark Blue Moon and sending its user to his death. Suddenly, several planted bombs explode on board, forcing the group and crew-mates to escape on emergency lifeboats, where they soon come across a large freighter.
DIO shares his fears about the Joestar bloodline with his advisor Enya the hag , [f] but she assures him they still have seven Stand-using assassins en route to stop the Joestars. Meanwhile, the Joestar group boards the apparently uninhabited freighter, finding only a caged orang-utan named Forever.
After a sailor is killed by machinery, Kakyoin uses Heirophant Green to search for life on the ship, without success. Later, as Anne takes a shower, Forever escapes from his cage, kills the remaining sailors, and corners her. Jotaro saves Anne and fights Forever, but finds himself attacked by various parts of the ship and realizes that the ship itself is an extremely powerful Stand known as Strength. The orang-utan then traps the Joestar party within the parts of the ship, but Jotaro taunts him then Star Platinum launches Jotaro's jacket button into Forever's skull with a Star Finger, then kills the ape.
With Forever defeated, Strength loses its form, forcing Jotaro and the others to escape to the lifeboats as the ship reverts to its original form of a tiny boat. Upon hearing of Forever's defeat, Enya, who is seen to have two right hands, assures DIO that there are still six other Stand users left to face the Joestars, her son included.
The Joestar group finally arrives in Singapore, already four days into their journey. They check into a hotel to plan the next leg of their trip, unaware that a mysterious doll sits in one of their rooms. The Joestar group check into a hotel with Anne, but when Polnareff enters his room, he realizes that one of DIO's assassins Devo the Cursed , [g] is hiding in his refrigerator.
Polnareff seemingly defeats Devo easily who then throws himself off the hotel balcony and disappears. Polnareff informs Avdol and Joseph of the situation and arranges to regroup with them later. In his room, Polnareff suddenly receives a cut on his leg, then is then strapped to the underside of his bed.
The culprit is revealed to be a doll that Devo possessed using his Stand Ebony Devil. Polnareff struggles to fight against the doll as Silver Chariot cannot accurately attack in areas Polnareff that cannot see. Polnareff manages to use reflections of pieces of a mirror he shattered earlier to pinpoint the doll's location and attack it precisely. Unable to learn anything from his opponent, Polnareff cuts the doll to pieces, which in turn kills Devo, who had been controlling his Stand from within in the hotel.
As Polnareff deals with authorities, Joseph uses Hermit Purple on his room's television, rapidly changing channels to reveal a hidden message warning of a traitor among them and to be wary of Kakyoin, for he is DIO's servant. Soon, the image changes to a live feed of DIO, who taunts Joseph before causing the television to explode. Jotaro and Anne suspect something is wrong with Kakyoin after observing some odd behavior, including severely beating a pickpocket, eating beetles, and licking a cherry in a disgusting manner.
Jotaro, believing Kakyoin to be possessed, punches him, revealing him to be an impostor. As the two take their fight onto the cable cars, Anne reports the situation to Joseph and Avdol, who are shortly joined by the real Kakyoin.
A Song of Ice and Fire - Wikipedia
The fight continues, until Jotaro defeats Rubber Soul by dragging him down into the sea below, forcing Rubber Soul to lower Yellow Temperance's guard to breathe and leaving him open to a direct physical attack. Geil , [h] the man with two right hands. Rubber Soul makes a last ditch attack but Jotaro just uses Star Platinum to pummel him.
Jotaro rejoins the group as they continue their journey to India , becoming surprised when Kakyoin licks a cherry in an identical fashion to his impostor. Unbeknownst to the Joestar group, Anne is following them in the next train car. The Joestar group arrives in Calcutta , India, which presents a considerable culture shock. In the restaurant's toilet Polnareff sees a Stand in the mirror, and realizes that it must be J. Geil's Stand the Hanged Man. He smashes the mirror before the Stand gets too close. Afterwards, he decides he should hunt down his sister's killer on his own, despite Avdol's warnings that they should remain together.
Geil to kill Polnareff. The next day, Polnareff finds J. Geil with Hol Horse, but he disappears as the rainy sky clears. Hol Horse uses his Stand the Emperor, which takes the form of a gun, to fire a bullet at Polnareff, but the bullet is a part of the Emperor and dodges Silver Chariot.
Just as the bullet is about to strike its mark, Polnareff is saved by the arrival of Avdol who attempts to block the bullet but is stabbed in the back by Hanged Man emerging from the reflection of a puddle, allowing the bullet to strike his forehead. Kakyoin arrives on the scene and is shocked to find Avdol dead, he finds that, despite his harsh words, Polnareff is just as mortified about his friend's death.
Geil provokes Polnareff into attacking his Hanged Man within a glass window, using the broken shards of glass to pin him down, but Kakyoin convinces Polnareff to escape in a car. After realizing that the Hanged Man is in the car with them, they crash the vehicle. They finally realize that the Hanged Man is actually a Stand of light that jumps between reflective surfaces.
The Hanged Man jumps into the reflection of the eyes of a young boy and then nearby beggars, trapping Polnareff and Kakyoin within the group of beggars. Suddenly, Kakyoin takes out a shiny gold coin and flips it into the air, bringing everyone's gaze, along with the Hanged Man, towards it, allowing Polnareff to cut the Stand down and finally avenging his sister. When Hol Horse realizes that J.
A Storm Breaks Out
Geil is dead he tries to flee, but is caught by Jotaro and Joseph who have just finished giving Avdol a proper burial. Polnareff prepares to carry out his sentence but is stopped by Hol Horse's lover, allowing Hol Horse to escape. After treating the woman's wounds, Joseph urges the group to continue their journey towards Egypt, unaware that a drop of the woman's blood has caused a mysterious growth to appear on his arm.
Sensing J. Geil's death, Enya prepares to take revenge with her Empress Stand. Jotaro's group travel by bus towards Varanasi , including Nena , the wounded woman. Joseph goes to a local clinic to have the developing growth on his arm treated, while is shown that Nena has a similar growth on her tongue. When the doctor attempts to cut the growth off, he is killed by the "bug bite", which has grown its own face and reveals itself to be the Empress. The Empress alerts the police, implicating Joseph for the doctor's murder.
Joseph tries to fight off the Stand attached to his arm, but it is unaffected by his Hamon techniques. The Empress stops him moving, but Joseph uses Hermit Purple to break free and searches for its user as the growth grows larger and stronger. Suddenly, he plunges his arm into a barrel containing a black substance. Although the Stand cannot be suffocated, the coal tar solidifies around it and Joseph uses Hermit Purple to rip the immobilized Empress to shreds. Nearby, Nena is also torn to shreds, revealing her as the Stand's user and her true form as an obese woman.
After regrouping with Jotaro and Kakyoin, they decides to travel by car to Pakistan , unaware that they are being followed by another car. Driving to Pakistan, the group encounter Anne hitchhiking and they reluctantly take her with them. Continuing their journey, a red car plays a deadly game of tag with them and eventually pushes them over a cliff. Kakyoin manages to stop their fall by having Hierophant Green hook a cable to the other car. Jotaro uses Star Platinum to pull them to safety, knocking the other car down the cliff in the process.
Just then, a voice comes from their own car's radio, revealing the red car to be the Wheel of Fortune Stand, which emerges from the ground, destroying their vehicle. It transforms, chasing them and soaking them with projectiles of gasoline.
Wheel of Fortune's user, ZZ , [i] uses the sparks on his car to set Jotaro ablaze, seemingly killing him. However, Jotaro manages to avoid the flames by digging underneath the ground and uses Star Platinum to destroy Wheel of Fortune and send ZZ flying out into the open. Jotaro then unleashes a savage attack on Wheel of Fortune. After chaining ZZ to a rock, the group take his car, which had reverted to its original dilapidated form and continue their journey. Meanwhile, Enya, frustrated that all of her Stand wielders have been defeated, decides to confront the group personally with her own Stand, Justice.
After Jotaro has a replacement coat made, Joseph manages to convince the runaway Anne to return to her home in Hong Kong. Heavy fog makes it dangerous to continue driving on cliff roads towards Karachi so the group stops in a nearby town. The town is enshrouded in fog and when the group comes across a body lying on the street riddled with bloodless holes they suspect a Stand user is involved. Feeling they should leave the town, Joseph jumps towards what he believes to be their car, only to narrowly avoid being impaled by a spiked gate.
It is then that Enya appears before the group, claiming to be an innocent old woman and leads them to a nearby hotel. Hol Horse shows up at the hotel, having tracked the Joestar group. However Enya, takes revenge on him for abandoning J. Geil and attacks his wrist with scissors before using her Stand Justice, which takes the form of the fog itself, to make a hole from his wound.
Justice then enters the wound to control Hol Horse's arm like a puppet and make him shoot himself with his own Emperor. Enya then set her sights on her next target, Polnareff who has become separated from the others. Enya tries to hide Hol Horse's body from Polnareff and struggles to suppress her rage when Polnareff shows his appreciation of her "hospitality". But Hol Horse, who is still alive, alerts Polnareff that Enya is about to attack him.
Enya uses her fog to control the dead civilians of the village like zombies and chase Polnareff who retreats to a bathroom. Unfortunately, Polnareff is hit by a surprise attack through the bathroom door's keyhole, allowing Justice to take control of his tongue and force him to lick the toilet in humiliation. Enya is interrupted by Jotaro, who suspected something was amiss when she refers to him by his real name as they all used fake names when signing the hotel ledger.
Enya inflicts a wound on Jotaro's leg, but Jotaro manages to overcome Justice's fog-like form by having Star Platinum inhale it, suffocating Enya until she passes out. Leaving the hotel, the village is revealed to be a cemetery and Jotaro suggests that they take Enya with them to learn more about DIO. Suddenly, Hol Horse makes off with their car, advising the group to kill Enya while they still can. Now travelling by horse and carriage, the Joestar group stops by a kebab shop in Karachi , the store owner turns out to be Steely Dan , [j] wielder of the Lovers Stand.
She dies, still believing in DIO rather than telling Joseph anything. Steely Dan reveals he has used his microscopic Stand The Lovers to enter Joseph's ear, where it causes any pain inflicted on himself to be amplified and sent to Joseph. He also reveals that The Lovers will begin implanting a flesh bud which will kill Joseph in 10 minutes. Jotaro, though angry, restrains himself as he caters to Steely Dan's whims to prevent him from hurting his grandfather. Meanwhile, Joseph, Kakyoin, and Polnareff seek out a television so Joseph can use Hermit Purple to make an image of the inside of his brain, allowing Kakyoin and Polnareff to shrink down their Stands to enter his body and locate The Lovers in order to save his life.
Although Polnareff acts first, he is hurt when the Lovers uses Joseph's brain cells to disguise himself as Heirophant Green and then make several clones of itself, leaving them unable to determine which one is the real Stand. Meanwhile, Jotaro is humiliated, beaten and forced to steal from a jewelry store by Steely Dan, all while making notes so he can make Steely Dan pay later. In Joseph's brain, Kakyoin manages to use Heirophant Green to find and attack the real Stand and force it out of Joseph's body, giving Joseph the opportunity to destroy the flesh bud in his brain with Hamon.
Realizing he has been defeated, Steely Dan tries to divert Jotaro's attention so The Lovers can enter him instead, but he is quickly spotted and caught by Star Platinum. In desperation, Steely Dan tries to have The Lovers enter a young girl's ear, but it is stopped by Heirophant Green's tentacle, which Kakyoin attached before it escaped. This stops Steely Dan's movements completely, allowing Jotaro to finally take revenge for everything Steely Dan put him through. The Joestar group are seen stranded in the desert under a blazing sun without shade or water.
Earlier, they arrive in the United Arab Emirates where Joseph purchases an expensive car. He later trades it for camels to ride through the Arabian Desert. Despite having never ridden camels before, the group eventually manages to set off. A long while later, they realize that the sun is still in the sky, at 8 o'clock in the evening. With the temperature rapidly increasing, the group realizes what they thought was the sun is actually the Stand called The Sun.
Kakyoin attempts to judge the distance of the Stand, but comes under attack from the Sun, which also ruins their water supply. All seems lost, particularly to Joseph when his younger companions all begin to laugh in an apparently heat induced delirium.
However, Kakyoin has found a rock in the middle of the desert which is a mirror image of another. When Jotaro throws a rock in its direction, a crack seemingly appears in the sky, and the Sun is defeated, restoring the night sky. The group walk over to the crack to find the Sun's user, Arabia Fats, out cold in a mirrored blind where he had been hiding.
Kakyoin dreams that he is in a deserted amusement park with a dog which is killed when the Stand Death 13 attacks, Kakyoin having no recollection over the cut on his hand after Polnareff wakes him up. But Kakyoin gets a sense of familiarity when he sees the dog he saw in his dreams killed in the same manner. Later, Joseph reluctantly agrees to fly a sick baby to hospital in the light plane he purchased. As the group takes off, the woman says the baby, Mannish Boy , [k] is not her own, and she was scared of his fangs.
While in flight, both Kakyoin and Polnareff fall asleep and find themselves at the same amusement park dream. They are both attacked by Death 13, but find that they cannot summon their Stands to fight back. Before Death 13 lands a mortal blow on Polnareff, Joseph wakes him, leaving Kakyoin still in the dream. Meanwhile Kakyoin thrashes about in his sleep and causes Joseph to crash the plane. As the team sets up camp, Kakyoin sees that he has cut the words "Baby Stand" into his arm during the dream, realizing that the baby is the Stand user, but is unsuccessful in convincing the others.
Kakyoin's suspicions are confirmed that the apparent baby is a Stand user after he witnesses Mannish Boy skillfully killing a scorpion, although he hides the evidence. After failing to convince everyone, Kakyoin attempts to attack Mannish Boy with Hierophant Green, but he is knocked out by Polnareff. When they fall asleep, Jotaro, Joseph, and Polnareff appear in the dream amusement park where they are all subjected to the whims of Death Fortunately, Kakyoin summoned his Stand before he was knocked out and he is able to bring Heirophant Green into the dream world to fight Death Mannish Boy attempts to use the dream world to his advantage and slice Heirophant Green in half, but Kakyoin instead sends his Stand into Death 13's ears, forcing Mannish Boy to heal Kakyoin's wounds and accept defeat.
The next morning, no-one recalls what happened in the dream except Kakyoin who retained his memories as a result of his Stand being inside the dream and he decides to leave Mannish Boy at the nearest town. Kakyoin makes it clear to the baby to never cross the group's path again by mixing Mannish Boy's feces into the food that Joseph later feeds him. As the group crosses the Red Sea, Joseph makes a detour towards an island to meet someone important.
Four weeks after leaving Japan, the Joestar group arrive on an island by the Red Sea where Joseph plans to meet Avdol's father who lives there as a hermit. Alone on the island shore, Polnareff discovers an aged lamp. After he rubs it, a genie named Cameo appears and grants Polnareff three wishes. Polnareff is skeptical until his wish for money causes a treasure chest full of gold coins to appear nearby.
Wondering if his wishes can bring people back from the dead, Polnareff wishes that his sister Cherie [l] and Avdol can be brought back to life. Cherie seems to be resurrected, but is revived as a ravenous predator who viciously attacks Polnareff to consume his flesh. Cameo explains that he is actually the Stand Judgement, who can create zombie-like creatures from the earth based on the wisher's desires.
The terrified Polnareff tries to use his final wish to wish Cherie away however, Cameo gloatingly tells Polnareff that he has already used his third wish to revive Avdol. In accordance with Polnareff's third wish, Cameo makes a figure of Avdol that joins Cherie in attacking Polnareff, biting off pieces of his flesh as he is unable to use Silver Chariot due to Cameo's interference.
Before the resurrected figures can kill Polnareff, he is suddenly saved by the real Avdol who had survived his encounter with Hol Horse because the seemingly fatal bullet had only grazed his skull. Cameo is initially too strong for Polnareff and Avdol's Stands, but Avdol then brings out the full strength of Magician's Red against Cameo's Stand Judgement, effectively dissipating it.
After the fight, Polnareff and Avdol, surmise that the real Cameo is nearby.
Silicon Valley’s Most Disturbing Obsession
They find a piece of bamboo sticking out of the ground, the breathing tube of the Cameo user. Polnareff drops mud, spiders, ants and a flame down the tube to block his breathing, and they finishing by urinating into the bamboo, forcing the user to the surface, where Avdol properly deals with him. After reuniting with the group, Polnareff is shocked to find that the others knew Avdol was alive, keeping it a secret from him to prevent DIO from finding out.
Avdol further reveals he had disguised himself as his father in order to purchase a submarine for the group. The Joestar group begins their journey beneath the Red Sea via submarine. Along the way, Joseph makes a call to his wife Suzi Q, who is unaware of his circumstances, making sure she does not travel to Japan to check on Holly, whose condition continues to worsen. Just as they approache the Egyptian shore, Joseph is suddenly attacked by a Stand, which had disguised itself as a mug which then transforms itself to hide in the submarine.
Avdol recognises the Stand as that of the High Priestess, wielded from far away by a woman named Midler , [m] which has the ability to transform into any mineral substance. As the submarine descends into chaos from the Stand's attacks, it begins to leak and sink. Jotaro answers another call from Suzi Q, who becomes concerned about what she hears. With the submarine at the bottom of the ocean and running low on oxygen, Jotaro attempts to crush High Priestess with Star Platinum, but it escapes by transforming into a razor. Unable to directly attack High Priestess, the group attempts to escape to the surface while Suzi Q and her butler Roses prepare to fly to Japan.
After finding some scuba equipment, Joseph gives everyone a quick lesson before the group prepares to flee the submarine. As they exit the submarine, they discover High Priestess has disguised itself as Polnareff's regulator and attacks him. However, Joseph and Kakyoin managing to save Polnareff from certain death using their Stands. They all leave safely and while swimming across some rocks, find the High Priestess has disguised itself as the sea bed, sucking them inside its mouth.
As the Stand's user, Midler, gloats from the surface, the group flatters her, trying to appeal to her vanity, but this only serves to anger her further. She tries to crush Jotaro between High Priestess' teeth however, Jotaro manages to break the teeth with Star Platinum. They all escape from High Priestess' mouth, reaching the surface, where they find Midler incapacitated and disfigured as a result of Jotaro's attack. Epilogue: a Speedwagon Foundation helicopter is seen carrying an unusual passenger. Jotaro's group meet up with a pair of representatives from the Speedwagon Foundation, who have brought supplies and a new member for the group, a Boston terrier named Iggy.
Despite his small stature and rude behavior, it is shown that Iggy possesses the Stand "The Fool", which enables him to control sand. Joseph is also informed of Holly's situation, learning that she only has a couple of weeks left. Shortly after resuming their journey, Jotaro's group discover the Speedwagon Foundation's helicopter has crashed.
Upon examining one of the representatives, they discover he has somehow drowned while the other has been completely dehydrated. The group attempts to give the man some water from a canister, only for a water-based Stand to emerge from it and kill him. The group attempts to hide from the Stand, only for it to travel through the sand and surprise them, injuring Kakyoin's eyes. The Stand, which is being controlled from afar by a blind man named N'Doul, becomes briefly curious about Iggy when he suspects the dog can sense his attacks, but returns his focus on the rest of the group by dragging the car they are sitting on down into the sand to kill them.
Upon realizing that N'Doul is using his sense of hearing to track the group with his Stand, named after the Egyptian god Geb, Avdol attempts to set up a trap, but N'Doul figures it out at the last second, avoiding an attack from Magician's Red and injuring Avdol. Jotaro hitches a ride against Iggy's wishes so they can head towards N'Doul to stop him from attacking. As they get closer, both Iggy's stubbornness and N'Doul's cunning puts Jotaro at risk, but Jotaro manages to overcome this by using Star Platinum to grab Iggy and throw him in N'Doul's direction.
Silicon Valley Meets Its Biggest Creation: Donald Trump
This forces Iggy to protect himself with his Stand while it also manages to distract N'Doul long enough for Jotaro to get behind him and knock him out. Before his death, N'Doul reveals that his Stand is Geb, after the Egyptian god, and he is only one of nine such Stand users, a fact that shocks Jotaro. Elsewhere, a travelling manga artist asks to see a local boy's comic book titled Oingo Boingo Brothers Adventure and discovers its odd contents, but is scared off by the boy's older brother.
The brothers prepare to head off to Aswan to confront Jotaro and the others, but the younger brother reveals what the man had read and they decide to wait for the next bus, as it is soon revealed that the boy's comic book had predicted the artist's death. As the Joestar group arrives in Aswan to get Kakyoin and Avdol into the hospital, they are targeted by DIO's brother assassins Oingo, [n] whose Stand Khnum allows him to change his face to appear like anyone else, and his younger brother Boingo, [o] whose Stand Thoth is a comic book that predicts the near future.
While Joseph suggested drinking bottled cola, the group drink the poisoned tea but they spit it out when Iggy causes a commotion. Surprised by the turn of events, the brothers consult Thoth and act on its foretelling to assault a guy and take his money before learning that Jotaro will die from a bomb hidden in an orange when the Joestar group head to the hospital. Oingo plants the prophesied bomb in the group's car, but is forced to disguise himself as Jotaro when caught offguard by the return of Joseph and Polnareff.
The real Jotaro already heading to the hospital, Oingo joins the two in the car before both he and Boingo soon realize that he may be the intended victim while disguised as Jotaro. Oingo eventually escapes the car, only for the bomb to find its way back to him as he accidentally detonated. Boingo vows to avenge his wounded brother before they are assaulted by some thugs hired by the man they had robbed earlier, taking them out of the running to stop the Joestar group as Joseph and Polnareff meet with Jotaro. With Kakyoin needing to spend a few more days in hospital to heal his eyes, the others continue across the Nile river on boat to Kom Ombo.
Meanwhile, a young man named Chaka discovers a mysterious sword that only he appears to be able to draw out of its sheath. The sword then suddenly moves on its own, killing Chaka's family members before revealing its identity to be that of the Anubis Stand, who declares Chaka as its master and sends him to pursue Jotaro's group.
Chaka soon comes across Polnareff, who had gotten separated from the others while chasing after Iggy, and the two face off against each other, with Polnareff struggling against the sword's ability to pass through anything to reach its target. When Chaka attempts a surprise attack, Polnareff uses a secret technique to deflect a piece of Silver Chariot's sword into Chaka's neck, knocking him unconscious.
When Polnareff insprects the sword for himself, he comes close to being swayed by its influence before Jotaro and the others arrive. As Jotaro and Polnareff stop by a barber shop on their way to take the sword to a police station, Anubis possesses the barber, Khan, who prepares to kill Polnareff. Realizing the sword is the Stand Anubis itself, Polnareff tries to defend himself against from Khan, which proves difficult as Anubis has memorized all of Silver Chariot's moves from before.
After Polnareff's last-ditch defense fails, Jotaro manages to snap the blade in half using Star Platinum, seemingly stopping Anubis and ending his control of Khan. But as Jotaro and Polnareff plan to throw the sword into the Nile, a police officer interferes, causing Polnareff to inadvertedly draw the sword and become possessed by Anubis himself. Jotaro struggles to fight against Anubis, who possesses not only Polnareff's speed and Stand abilities, but also knowledge of every move Star Platinum uses against him. Anubis manages to stab Jotaro's stomach with the sword and proceeds to push it in further, but Jotaro uses this opportunity to pin the sword in place while Star Platinum smashes it to pieces.
Anubis manages to possess a young boy with the remaining half of the blade and attempts to throw himself at Polnareff, only for Iggy to trip the boy up, resulting in Anubis ending up at the bottom of the Nile with his vessel doomed to rust. Elsewhere, a woman in a red hood makes her move. Kakyoin is informed that the Speedwagon Foundation is taking over his medical treatment, allowing his eyes to heal faster.
Meanwhile, as Jotaro's group arrive in Luxor , Joseph gets shocked by a strange rock with an electrical socket while visiting the bathroom. Joseph decides to have the group stay in Luxor for the night, unaware that he appears to be emitting a magnetic force, causing metallic objects to be drawn towards him. The next morning, Joseph quickly realizes he has become a human magnet as a result of yesterday's shock, causing anything metallic to become a potentially lethal weapon for him. This is revealed to be the work of Mariah, wielder of the magnetic Stand Bastet, who traps Joseph on an escalator, resulting in him almost becoming strangled to death before Avdol rescues him.
Joseph and Avdol pursue Mariah into the ladies' restroom, only for Joseph's magnetism to get them into more trouble. As they continue their pursuit, Avdol realises that he has also come under Bastet's influence while stopping the escalator, with both he and Joseph becoming stuck together due to their magnetism. April 7, [p]. Joseph and Avdol try to get themselves detached from each other, facing all kinds of embarrassment in the process, only to wind up stuck on a railroad track as a train approaches.
Thanks to Magician's Red managing to burn a hole underneath the tracks before they are run over, Avdol and Joseph escape their predicament and continue pursuing Mariah, who they believe has to keep a certain distance from them in order to maintain her Stand ability. Despite being weighed down by an increasing array of metallic objects, Joseph and Avdol confront Mariah in a pincer attack, but are caught in a trap as she sets off several loose power cables that are drawn to their magnetism.
However, the duo manage to utilise their magnetism to their own advantage, crushing all of Mariah's bones with their combined weight until she passes out and relinquishes her power. While Jotaro, Polnareff, and Iggy go off in search for Joseph and Avdol, who are busy with their battle with Mariah, they are followed by Alessi, who uses the power of the Stand Set which resides in his shadow to turn Polnareff into a child. Along with his smaller stature, Polnareff's mind also starts reverting as he gradually loses his adult memories.
Unable to ask Jotaro for help, Polnareff is only able to defend himself from Alessi using Silver Chariot, who is also affected by Set's power. Barely managing to escape Alessi after Silver Chariot's blade hits his neck by chance, Polnareff is picked up by a young woman who takes him to her home to treat his injuries. But Alessi manages to sneak into her house and attacks Polnareff when he was about to take a bath.
Alessi attempts to drown Polnareff in the bath, only for his bodily instincts to save him at the last second. Discovering that Alessi had used his power to turn the woman into a fetus that will die in a short amount of time, Polnareff attempts to escape with her, turning even younger every time he touches Set's shadow.
Driven into a bedroom, Polnareff uses a fish tank, a ball, and a mirror to hide himself and get the drop on Alessi, who soon winds up in front of Jotaro. Alessi manages to hit Jotaro with Set's shadow, only to find that Jotaro was still powerful and ruthless as a kid, knocking Alessi out to cancel the age curse before he and Polnareff exact brutal revenge.
Relieved to find the woman restored with her memories of the event a haze, Polnareff decides to keep his identity a secret from her before he and Jotaro reunite with the rest of the group. Polnareff goes first and the two bet on which of two pieces of fish a cat would go for first. Polnareff loses, and D'Arby makes good on the bet by using his Stand Osiris to steal Polnareff's soul and implant it in a poker chip, with the cat soon revealed to be his pet.
The group realizes they have come across one of DIO's assassins, so Joseph puts up his own soul in a wager against D'Arby next. They bet to see who will cause a glass full to the brim to overflow by dropping coins into it. On his turn, Joseph tries to outcheat D'Arby by dropping more liquid into the glass, knowing that on D'Arby's turn it will overflow, but D'Arby easily puts his coin in. Joseph cannot figure out how his cheat did not work and subconsciously admits defeat, leaving D'Arby to steal his soul as well.
Jotaro discovers D'Arby had used a small piece of chocolate to change the way the glass appeared to be full and let it melt, deciding to face D'Arby next and beat the man at his own game: poker. D'Arby prepares his and Jotaro's game of poker by splitting up Polnareff and Joseph's souls into six poker chips each he will use to bet with, giving Jotaro a set of six to represent his own soul.
Jotaro loses three chips in his first hand against D'Arby, and in the second hand D'Arby is dealt four kings, but Jotaro appears to have not once looked at his cards. But Jotaro raises all of his soul and Avdol's soul on his bet, while using Star Platinum to get himself a cigarette and a drink.
D'Arby believes he is bluffing, seeing his bet and raising it, betting the rest of Jotaro's soul and all of Joseph and Polnareff's souls. Jotaro sees his bet with Kakyoin's soul and then raises with the soul of his mother Holly. D'Arby, unsure if Jotaro has managed to use Star Platinum to change out all of his cards to a better hand, mentally folds as he goes catatonic. All of the souls he won in bets are released, allowing Joseph and Polnareff to recover as Avdol looks at Jotaro's cards, realizing that he had been dealt a bad hand.
Jotaro admits he never once looked at his cards to keep his cool, but laments that they will not be able to interrogate D'Arby for information on DIO. He doesn't want to leave fans hanging on what happens to major or minor characters, but also wants the last two books to be as well written as the first five. There were just too many stories he wanted to tell, and he couldn't let go of them all.
We have the unpublished chapter where Tyrion meets the Shrouded Lord. We have two unpublished chapters of Quentyn arriving at Meereen both long before and long after Dany's wedding. We have a presumed unpublished first Quentyn chapter. These are all places where GRRM knows the endpoint, but not the full way to get there.
